Mommy

Zero sighed as he heard X scream at the top of her lungs. X had taken the job of taking care of any new rookie Maverick Hunters before they were sent for military training. It wouldn't be much of a problem but unfortunately for X, and anyone around her, a good portion of the Reploids sent to the Maverick Hunter Headquarters were either really young or very stupid, the latter of which was very common.

Zero looked at X in amusement as she scolded two young Reploids that were 'practicing' their combat skills and nearly shot Spider's head off.

"… and I've told you this many times before! Do you want me to get Commander Signas just so you can behave?" X huffed.

"No, Miss X…" The two Reploids looked at their feet, obviously embarrassed at getting yelled at. X gave a defeated sigh. She rubbed the temples of her head.

"Just go to your rooms and think about how stupid that little 'pre-training' was. And I want you to apologize to Spider when you see him. Honestly, it's a miracle that his head barely missed that charged shot of yours!"

The two boys whined but followed X's orders. X had pretty powerful lungs so she could make anyone go deaf if she wanted. The Reploids shivered that the thought of X giving an ear-splitting scream. They definitely don't want that to happen.

Zero chuckled at his girlfriend as she sat by him.

"Another hard day being a babysitter, X?" The blue Reploid gave him a sour look.

"I still can't believe I accepted this job. You think these rookies would try to stay serious for when they become Hunters! I'm here to get them ready for training! Not be their mommy!" She groaned.

Zero grabbed X's shoulder and pulled her close, letting her head rest on his shoulder. X relaxed a little bit at Zero's affectionate half-hug but was still strung up. Zero seemed to notice this as he started to lightly rub X's back and shoulder.

"Come on, X. You know you wouldn't do something if you didn't care about it." Zero tried hard not to laugh as X let out another defeated sigh.

"I know, it's just that I'm tired of being the "mom". I already have Axl being a complete moron even though he's supposed to be their training officer. I don't need them to be acting like idiots too."

Zero lifted his hand to take off X's helmet. He ran his fingers through her hair, trying to relax her a little more.

"I know it's hard, but just think about how successful they'll be when they become Hunters. They'll be thanking you for being a "mommy" as you call it. You'll see."

X blushed and shifted her eyes away. Despite her still looking sour, X was actually pretty happy and relaxed.

"How are you so sure?" Zero mentally rolled his eyes. Looks like X wanted to continue the petty argument.

"Don't you remember when you started training Axl?" He might as well humor her.

"Yeah, he was a big dumbass. Not much of a difference there, Zero."

Zero chuckled. "True, but wouldn't you say Axl is a lot better than when he first started out?"

X paused for a bit. "I suppose so. I guess I got to give him some credit for at least trying now." She sighed a bit, giving up the fake argument.

Zero gave a smug grin. "See? You're a good 'mommy'." He couldn't help but laugh at X's surprised and annoyed look. She turned a bit to sit on Zero's lap. X wrapped her arms around her blonde boyfriend and snuggled her head against his neck.

"Why are you calling me that?" Zero still kept that smug grin of his.

"What? You called yourself that."

X puffed out her cheeks. "That was a joke you know." She took off Zero's helmet to run her hands through his soft, long hair. Zero pursed his lips together to keep from laughing.

"I know. It just fits you." X pulled her head from his neck to look at her boyfriend's face. Her face softened into a mildly annoyed but otherwise happy expression, her cheeks flushed with a light red. Zero just smirked.

"What? You have to admit you are a mommy."

X crushed her lips against Zero's. The blonde was surprised but almost immediately kissed back. X broke the kiss, her face still red.

"Well," she started. "If I'm the mommy, then you're the daddy."

The couple looked at each other for a minute before laughing their asses off. When Zero started catching his breath, he pulled X closer to his face where the tip of their noses touch.

"I guess I am the daddy." He gave a sweet smile. "How about I take care of the rookies next time?"

X returned Zero's smile. "That would be great. But how about the parents spend some time together?"

Zero chuckled, kissing his girlfriend before they took the day off to enjoy their time together.
